Relevant Sustainable Development Goals

Is there a more efficient way for developing countries to finance their economic development without having to rely on international institutions or other governments? And can fintech and online tools also help to wrest financial power away from big finance, and pass it into the hands of citizens?

Emphatically yes, says a newly published report from the United Nations.

The report of “The UN Secretary General’s Task Force on Digital Financing of the Sustainable Development Goals” is now available online (download it here), and it says fintech has created a “short lived window of opportunity to achieve systemic change” – and a way to radically re-shape how development finance works.

And more than just speculating about theoretical solutions, the work of the Task Force has already spawned a number of projects that are already proving the point.
